Magnesium sulfate is used to increase and compensate for magnesium and sulfur oxide deficiencies. Magnesium is one of the essential elements in the chlorophyll molecules found in the green parts of the plant, which converts sunlight into chemical energy during the photosynthesis .The sulfur element is another important ingredient for plant nutrition. This material is often used in potting plants or crops, such as potatoes, roses, tomatoes, lemon trees, carrots and peppers that require a lot of magnesium. The advantage of magnesium sulfate to other magnesium salts, such as dolomite, is its high solubility which allows the farmer to splash the fertilizer directly onto the leaves helping the plant to absorb through the leaves easily.

Magnesium sulfate is used as a drying agent in organic synthesis. In salt baths, the use of this substance can relieve pain in the leg. Used in marine aquariums for calcification process.
